Award: $100 to $5000 (may receive award up to $8,000 for taking Critical Need Language)
Deadline: October 6, 2020 PT (Applicants whose in-person and virtual programs starts January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021).
This is for students participating in the spring 2021, summer 2021, fall 2021 or academic year 2021-2022 programs.
For U.S. students who have high financial need. Aims to encourage students to study and intern in a diverse array of countries and world regions. The program also encourages students to study languages, especially critical need languages (those deemed important to national security).

Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.

Award: 100% of recipients’ program fees and travel costs are covered for Summer 2021

The Fredrick Douglass Global Fellowship covers 100% of a recipients’ program fees and travel costs for an intensive 4-week, 3-credit summer study abroad program designed to enhance student’s leadership and intercultural skills. All qualified applicants who don’t receive a Fredrick Douglass Global Fellowship are guaranteed $1,500 grant toward Summer 2021 Study Abroad programs which is marched with another $1,500 grant from CSUDH that brings to a total of $3,000 towards Summer 2021 programs through CIEE. CIEE is an approved CSUDH study abroad program provider.
Eligibility requirements: Be a current undergraduate freshman or sophomore Be Federal Pell Grant eligible Have a minimum GPA 3.00 Reside in the U.S. with student status or be U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident Submit a complete application no later than February 14, 2021.
